The environment in which we live and develop is constantly undergoing changes, reminding us of the passage of time. Our surroundings shape how we perceive the need for knowledge and how we acquire it. The professional development of people who have committed their careers to scientific activity is inevitably supported by institutions - “guardians of knowledge.” These units, as part of our environment with their supportive functions, also undergo growth and transformation. The focus of this article is the academic library of the University of Economics – Varna and its period of adaptation following COVID-19. The aim is to examine the readers` attitudes and perceptions in the post-pandemic period and to outline guidelines for further development. Retrospective analysis and systematic review have been used to compare the changes that have occurred. Based on a university-level personalized survey, an action plan for navigating the new reality has been outlined.
